My name is Andrea Hinman and I started teaching in Troy in 2012. Before coming to Troy, I worked at a charter school in Dearborn for six years. I went to college at Wayne State University where I received my bachelor's degree in Fine Arts with a concentration in Interior Design. I worked for an Architectural firm for four years as a commercial Interior Designer. I decided to return to school to pursue something more rewarding. I always looked forward to my art classes from elementary thru college. That led me to a Masters in Art Education. I love teaching elementary art, because the students are so enthusiastic, creative and fearless in their art making. They always inspire me!
I have been married since 2008 to my husband Steven, who is an Architectural Engineer. Our first son, Erik was born in 2011 and our boy/girl twins, Evan and Elin were born in 2014. We also have two furry children, my dogs Kodi and Maggie. Shortly after teaching in Troy, we purchased a house in Northeast Troy.
In my free time, I enjoy camping and traveling all around Michigan. I have traveled to Europe and the Caribbean several times also. I also enjoy kayaking, hiking, gardening, cooking, home improvement, painting, ceramics and just spending quality time with my family.
